April 15, 2017 – Afternoon Report

Saturday was just another perfect spring day at Stowe. The day started with temperatures right around freezing with firm but soft groomers. By 9 o’clock with the temperatures rising, and brilliant sunshine, ski patrol dropped ropes on all the front trails. The surface corned up nicely, ¬†and everything skied quite well from tops, to trees, to bumps. The tops and some natural snow trails are starting to show some bare spots with all the skier traffic and warm weather. Our pick of the day today was S-53, or any other upper or mid mountain woods. For Easter Sunday the Gondola will load from 4:30 to 5:30 for Stowe’s 63rd sunrise service. The gondola will remain open till 8:30 for skiing and riding, and then will shut down for the season. Tomorrow’s forecast calls for warm temperatures, cloudy skies, and the possibility of scattered showers in the morning and possibly a thunderstorm late in the afternoon.

Average Base Depths:
Snowmaking: 30″ – 60″
Natural Snow: 12″ – 36″
Mt. Mansfield Stake: 89″
Season Total: 375″
