December 7, 2017 – Afternoon Report

Thursday was a much better day of skiing and riding at Stowe. Lake effects snow from last night till about 2:00 this afternoon dropped a couple of inches of light snow. The groomers  had more to work with and did manage to lay down a firm and edge able surface. The snowfall during the day mixed in with the loose groomed snow to make for some relatively soft turns on the edges of some trails. Temps didn’t get above 20 at the top to around 30 at the base. The snow guns have been on at the Gondola, and with the cold temperatures, the Gondola will open Saturday at 8:30. Tonight look for more Lake effects snow, temps around 20, and sunshine during the day on Friday.

Average Base Depths:
Snowmaking: 12″ – 36″
Natural Snow: 4″ – 8″
Mt. Mansfield Stake: 15″
Season Total: 39″
