March 10, 2018 – Afternoon Report
Conditions are really starting to get good out there thanks to all the snow in the past few days. There’s a lot of soft snow on the mountain, whether it be in the form of nice edge-able groomers or fresh un-groomed snow. We had nice weather today too with relatively mild temperatures and some steady snowfall in the afternoon. We’re going to pick up at least a few inches this afternoon and then a forecasted 4-8 inches overnight, so it looks like Sunday could be a full on powder day.
Snow conditions on the groomers are mostly packed powder now. Because of the weekend skier traffic some icy spots did emerge by early afternoon, or even late morning on more popular runs, but it’s much better now than it was a week ago. Even in the afternoon there were nice turns to be had on groomed slopes, they were just a little harder to find.
Off the groomers conditions have drastically improved. Even though we only got about a foot of snow, while some mountains in southern Vermont got slammed, it was enough to fill in some key spots and help coverage on natural snow trails. The snow we’re going to pick up tonight will help even more! We expect a lot of open natural snow terrain tomorrow, hopefully including some steep upper-mountain favorites.
See you on the slopes and get ready for a powder day!
